1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you") and OccultSanctum ("we," "us," "our"), operated from Perth, Western Australia, Australia. By downloading, installing, or using the Vedic Cards application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the App.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of the App

Vedic Cards is an educational platform dedicated to the study and practice of Jyotish (Vedic astrology) through an interactive card-based system. The App provides:

• Structured Learning (Learn) — A Jyotish learning platform with 19 courses and over 250 lessons across three tiers (free, intermediate, and advanced), including quizzes, daily challenges, assessments, XP progression, levels, badges, and bookmarks.
• Reference Library (Explore) — A free encyclopedia covering the 12 planets, 12 houses, 4 elements, 27 nakshatras, card combinations, topic guides, remedies and mantras, and a Vedic glossary.
• Card Practice (Practice) — An interactive card drawing system where users draw a 3-row spread (Past, Present, and Future) from three card piles (Planets, Houses, and Rashi), with 14 topic categories to choose from.
• AI-Powered Explanations — AI-generated explanations of card combinations powered by Anthropic (Claude), with follow-up chat for deeper analysis. Each AI explanation uses 1 credit.
• Card of the Day — A daily featured planet card with its meaning and a reflection prompt.
• Saved Spreads — A journal of your past card drawings for review and continued AI analysis.
• Credits System — A credit system for unlocking paid courses and accessing AI-powered explanations within the App.

3. Educational and Entertainment Purposes Only — Disclaimer

All content, card explanations, course material, quiz content, AI-generated explanations, and any other outputs provided through the App — whether produced by human authors, algorithmic systems, artificial intelligence, or any combination thereof — are provided strictly for educational and entertainment purposes only.

You expressly acknowledge, understand, and agree that:

• Jyotish (Vedic astrology) is a traditional knowledge system rooted in ancient Indian tradition. Its teachings are not scientifically validated and have no proven predictive or diagnostic accuracy.
• No content within this App constitutes, or should be interpreted as, professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, investment, relationship, career, or any other form of professional advice.
• AI-generated explanations and responses are produced by large language models that may generate inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or fabricated ("hallucinated") information.
• Card explanations are symbolic and subjective by nature. The same card or combination may be understood differently by different teachers, traditions, and practitioners.
• You should never make significant life decisions — including those related to health, finances, legal matters, relationships, or career — based solely or primarily on any content from this App.
• You should always seek qualified, licensed professionals for matters requiring professional advice.
• Course and lesson content represents one presentation of Jyotish tradition and does not claim to be the definitive or authoritative source on the subject.

4. Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Claims

By using the App, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with engaging with astrological, spiritual, and AI-generated educational content. You acknowledge that:

• You are using the App of your own free will, for personal education, exploration, or entertainment.
• You are solely responsible for any actions you take or decisions you make based on, or influenced by, any content from the App.
• You waive any and all claims against OccultSanctum for any loss, damage, harm, or adverse outcome — whether direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive — arising from or related to your use of the App or reliance on its content.
• This waiver extends to emotional distress, financial losses, relationship consequences, and any other adverse outcomes you may attribute to use of the App.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The App includes AI-powered explanation features powered by Anthropic (Claude). You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated explanations may be inaccurate, inconsistent, contradictory, or entirely fabricated. The AI may present speculative or incorrect information with apparent confidence.
• AI responses represent the output of a language model and do not reflect the personal opinions, endorsements, or teachings of OccultSanctum.
• The AI may occasionally produce content that is inappropriate, culturally insensitive, or inconsistent with traditional Jyotish teachings despite safeguards in place.
• OccultSanctum does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, authenticity, or traditional fidelity of any AI-generated content.
• AI explanations are not a substitute for study with a qualified Jyotish practitioner or teacher.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 OccultSanctum Content

All content within the App — including but not limited to course material, lessons, quizzes, articles, card explanations, artwork, graphics, text, topic guides, and encyclopaedic content — is owned by or licensed to OccultSanctum and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

6.2 Permitted Use

You may access and use content within the App for your own personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, or transmit any App content without our prior written consent.
• Use App content for commercial purposes.
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from App content.
• Scrape, extract, or systematically collect App content by any means.
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.

6.3 Your Content

The App does not currently support user-generated content beyond saved card spreads and AI conversation history. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you submit to us may be used by OccultSanctum without obligation or compensation to you.

7. Eligibility and Account Registration

You must be at least 17 years of age to use the App. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 17 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Accounts are created through Google OAuth or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, all activity that occurs under your account, and notifying us immediately at occultsanctum@gmail.com if you become aware of any unauthorised access.

8. Credits, Payments, and Refund Policy

8.1 Credit System

The App uses a credit system for accessing premium features. Credits are used to unlock intermediate and advanced learning courses and to generate AI-powered card explanations. New accounts receive a complimentary allocation of credits as determined by OccultSanctum from time to time and subject to change without notice. Credits are shared across all OccultSanctum applications when signed in with the same account.

8.2 Purchasing Credits

Credits are purchased as consumable, one-time purchases through Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play In-App Purchase. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

8.3 Credit Expiry

Credits do not expire while your account remains active. Credits are tied to your account and are non-transferable between separate accounts.

8.4 Refund Policy

• Credits that have been consumed (used for course unlocks or AI explanations) are non-refundable.
• For unused credits, refund requests may be submitted within 14 days by contacting occultsanctum@gmail.com.
• Credits cannot be transferred between accounts.
• Apple App Store and Google Play refund policies apply for store purchases. OccultSanctum has no control over Apple's or Google's refund decisions.

8.5 Price Changes

OccultSanctum reserves the right to adjust credit pricing at any time. Changes will not affect credits already purchased.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Impersonate any person or entity.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its backend systems.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or other users' access.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
• Create multiple accounts to exploit free credits.

10. Availability and Changes to the App

OccultSanctum does not guarantee that the App will be available at all times. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any feature or content — including courses, lessons, quizzes, and card content — at any time. We will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OccultSanctum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App or reliance on its content.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the total amount of credits you have purchased in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OccultSanctum and its owner, operators, developers, affiliates, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

13. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with: Google OAuth, Apple Sign-In, Anthropic (Claude), Apple In-App Purchase, Google Play In-App Purchase, Render (hosting), and Resend (email). OccultSanctum is not responsible for the availability or actions of third-party services.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia. For users in other jurisdictions, mandatory local consumer protection laws may also apply and are not excluded by these Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and OccultSanctum regarding your use of the App.
